Local Tourism

Local Tourism
The SADC and CAE are key players in supporting businesses and tourism projects. We provide solutions to the many challenges in this economic sector.
Attracting local customers and inviting people to travel to Quebec

The enthusiasm for regions and local purchasing in Quebec is still alive. Businesses are diversifying and adapting to demand. The Network, along with SADC and CAE, remains very active in supporting these businesses and finding solutions to the many challenges they face.

Programs That Made a Difference

Thanks to the Assistance Project for small tourism businesses, delivered in all regions of Quebec by the SADC and CAE, $20 million in non-repayable financial contributions were granted in 2023 to fund the realization of 665 projects aimed at improving the service offerings of small businesses in rural areas. Projects that thousands of tourists can benefit from today!

Moreover, during the delivery of the Regional Aid and Recovery Fund (FARR), 55% of the loans made by the SADC and CAE were dedicated to businesses from the economic sectors most affected by the pandemic, such as tourism. Thus, we contributed to the maintenance of several tourism businesses.

Inspiring Tourism Project
Développement touristique des régions
The great tour of Bas-Saint-Laurent and Gaspésie:
a unique route in Quebec!

Did you know that the Bas-St-Laurent is the only region in Quebec to have three scenic routes managed by distinct entities? These include: the Route des Navigateurs, which runs along the St. Lawrence River; the Route des Frontières, located along Route 289, which travels through the limits of Bas-Saint-Laurent, New Brunswick, and Maine; and the Route des Monts Notre-Dame, which traverses the Appalachian range in the rural area of the region. To better structure the tourism offering and create a more powerful calling product, supported by the promotion of a looped circuit showcasing many attractions for visitors, much like the legendary Route 66 in the United States, the SADC of Témiscouata, the SADC of La Neigette, and the SADC of La Mitis have joined the regional partners committee. The leadership of the SADCs has greatly contributed to this mobilization of partners, the identification of possible management models, and the creation of tools to successfully carry out this restructuring of the tourism offer. Today, partners share a coordinated vision for developing the tourism offering and are taking concrete actions to strengthen and promote this unique circuit in Quebec.
